THE ABSOLUTELY WORST COMPANY EVER! FPU IS SUCH A CURRUPT BUSINESS! THEY ADVERTISE TO BE A CO'OP COMPANY BUT ARE PRIVETLY OWNED! CEO BRITT DYE GAVE HIMSELF A $35,000 BONUS FOR EASTER! THEY ARE CRIMINALS FOR WHAT THEY CHARGE ON TVA FUEL. THERE'S SO MUCH MORE INFO YOU CAN FIND ON FPU, THAT PROVES THERE CURUPT. FACTS ARE THERE!

As for cable, I can't really explain in much detail how disappointing it has been because they won't call me back despite multiple people telling me they will. Finally, after months of no answers over the phone, I went to the office and, basically, refused to leave until someone with a clue would come talk with me. Eventually (after telling them I would wait for him to get back from wherever they said he was) he did. And he sounded informed (though he intentionally used a bunch of jargon in front of his buddy (from the gas side) to make sure "he put me in my place" for being so daring as to actually push for a response). Eventually, he promised to go measure the distance from the nearest cable line to our new house so he could give me a price. His words were "I'll call you this afternoon or tomorrow." Almost two weeks later and--get ready for it--haven't heard back from him. I have now left messages for several days which have been unreturned--despite the fact that the very polite lady who answers the phone assures me he is in the office. So, it looks like we have to go with propane. As for internet, we don't have a choice but to keep trying to get FPU to do its job because there are no other internet companies able to run a line to us.

I am Building a new house a few hundred feet from the Fayetteville city limits and am amazed at the difficult time we are having simply getting information about utilities. Getting our electrical service was relatively painless (though it is unbelievable that they won't actually tell you how much it will cost until they finish--wouldn't that be nice to be able to run a business like that). However, the cable and gas sides of FPU are incredibly difficult. We have been trying for MONTHS to simply find out when, if, and how much it will cost to get gas and internet. The only answer I get from the gas folks is "it will be very expensive." What the heck does that mean!?!?! Are you serious? When I ask about how they determined "it will be very expensive" they tell me they have to extend their gas main from a certain road near me. The problem is, there are houses between that road and our new house with gas service. Explain that to me?

I want to be clear that each of the people I have dealt with seem to be very honest and decent people. That said, it is clear, from my experience and the experiences of others who have shared similar stories with my wife and I (and including the other reviews online) that FPU, as an organization, has systemic issues and a culture which fails to appreciate its stakeholders.

Update: We were finally able to get the internet sorted out (paid a deposit) and they are supposed to be running the line to us shortly--we'll see how that goes. As for gas, never got a firm number and after finally being able to talk with the person about the construction costs they would expect me to be responsible for to extend the gas line to our property, we decided to go with propane--there is no way on God's earth I would ever be willing to pay for a project these folks are involved with.

I disconnected my service in early November & still have not received my deposit refund. But I promise if your even $5 short on your bill they will suspend your services...

Oh how competition would be nice. Let's face it, Fayetteville is in dire need of development to bring jobs to the area to replace the one's leaving with Amana. Utilities are vitally important to development. In fact, the lack of utilities (or a competent utility company) is a must for cities like Fayetteville. I hope that something can be done to right the ship in Fayetteville.

Having said this, I want to reiterate that the folks at FPU who handle electrical service have been exceptionally responsive; the only complaint is the way they price new services--which is to say...they don't, they just bill you what ever they come up with after the fact. Oh, they give you a price ... err ... estimate, but they tell you it is just that, an estimate. You pay what they figure out after the fact. Crazy.

I think it's unfair for folks living in the county to be paying for waste & we don't even use those services! Unless you're hauling your own trash to the city dump, this should NOT be a charge to us (in the county)! And the fuel charges are RIDICULOUS! They're very unfair about all of their services AND they're CROOKS! Something should be done about this! My light bill should NOT be nearly $300 a month nor should my water run $80 a month! There's no way this is accurate!

They are crook monopoly. I'm sure they built the fancy building with the money they stole from Fayetteville residents. I honestly think about running competition against these guys. Just because they are the only utility company in town, they think they can charge people whatever they want. Be ready to see all kinds of fees on your bill. You either pay it or live without power, or you have to move somewhere else. I would enjoy to see them fail.
