I called in to ask about a possible police report that I had filed a couple weeks prior. The woman I spoke to was extremely rude and unhelpful. She raised her voice and got an attitude and told me that the county wasn't dealing with my case. I told her repeatedly that a deputy (who shall remain nameless) told me that they would tell me when they decided whether or not my case would be a county issue or city issue. I gave her the deputy's name and she refused to let him know I had called. The deputy himself was helpful when I first met with him, but the woman in the office was by far the rudest person I had ever talked to.
I believe that the people of Fayetteville deserve to have a honest review of the LCSD. I’ll start off by saying that Murray Blackwelder is an amazing person to work with and that the Deputy side of things is amazing. My problem is with the corrections side of things. I worked for the Jail for about a year and a half and my experience there was terrible. Before I left the Sheriff was talking about how there was to be training for the officers and would expect the department to run better however it isn’t the officers that are the problem it’s the admin. The only administrator worth anything is the lieutenant. He’s the definition of firm, fair, and consistent however the sergeant and chief don’t deserve their position. So in all honesty if you want to be overworked and underpaid with the only option to move up is by kissing ass then maybe the jobs for you. Believe me though I’ve been in the position where I really need a job and got stuck. Keep your head up and continue looking because you don’t want to work here
The sheriffs responded to a domestic situation while we were camping in record time. They were extremely helpful and kind. They diffused the situation as best as they could and made us all feel safe again.
